Viewsonic ViewPad 7 Reviews

If we are hunting gadgets tablet pc that comes with the SIM card slot so Viewsonic Viewpad 7 is the right choice.

CONSTRUCTION & DESIGN

ViewPad casing 7 is made entirely of plastic, but still solid, compact and powerful.ViewSonic iPhone looks very much like 4, so that the tablet has a sharp edge and curved slightly rounded corners. With the navigation buttons and menus are thin around the screen, the side made of silver and not too thick, while the back is shiny black, which looks very modern. Batteries do not have cover and can not be changed, like the iPad.

If we compare with rivals Samsung tablet pc Galaxy Tab, ViewPad 7 somewhat wider, but shorter and more ramping.Ini laudable that ViewPad 7 can easily be used only with one hand. Its dimensions are 7.06 x 4.33 x 0.45 inches and weighs 12.96 ounces big. It is more severe, such as Tab Galaxy, but lighter than the iPad.

Speaker and the power button is placed at the edge of the tablet, while other speakers are located on the bottom edge. The left side includes a mini-USB port, microphone, headset jack and a small reset button, while the right side has a volume control and cover that hides the MicroSD and SIM card slot.

A rubber and plastic cover equipped with ViewPad 7, but can not be used as a kickstand. This package also includes an AC adapter with a plug socket standards (United States, Europe, UK etc) and earphones.

Capacitive screen has a 7-inch diagonal and a resolution of 800 x 480-pixel which is a good combination, especially for Android 2.2, which is intended for such a resolution. However, the ratio of height and width of the screen does not match that is usually supported by the device bearing the same resolution, so images appear slightly elongated horizontally. This was evident during the first run ViewPad, when the screen needs to be opened by dragging round padlock icon along the screen - the icon is not round, but oval (like putting an egg-down, although it is not clear).

ViewSonic representatives have discussed about this subject, knowing that some users may have a problem with it. Head voiced that they do not want to retreat from the selected resolution simply because many applications are available even if the Android Market require such a resolution and no other will do.

Slight extension of the image is not a big problem in practice and users will soon get used to it, however, the smaller text on the screen can seem a bit blurred at times because of this distortion. Perhaps because of the resolution and perhaps because the display manufacturing technology, can not be said that they were ViewPad 7 offers sharp. However, the colors are quite bright and cheerful and touch screen response is very precise and timely.

It offers features multitouch tablet, which is quite solid - while zooming in on images and web site, the tablet always get the right zoom level. It also supports accelerated scrolling, however, is not appropriate. It would be better if it is a bit faster and if you can scroll a larger portion of a website when a user with a fast finger moves across the screen.

Four touch-sensitive buttons located along the bottom of the screen, in a black suburb, which is typical of OS Android (directed to access the context menu, return to the home screen, enabling search and one step-back key). It is somewhat remarkable that used nonstandard ViewSonic mark for the fourth button, along with a strange formation. As a result, it takes time for users to get used to them (ie to stop making mistakes when selecting the desired key

PERFORMANCE

The ViewPad 7 comes with a 600 MHz processor by Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset, which does not look particularly quick, especially compared to the Galaxy Tab 1 GHz processor, and faster processors that will be incorporated into the tablet that will come. However, it turns out that the tablet function quite well with the type of processor it has.Enabled applications is fast and the same goes for multimedia files.

Zooming a bit slower with a complex web site, and Flash elements that can not be seen. When the case was with other tablets including Android OS, like many smartphones, web sites that contain Flash elements very demanding for the processor. Therefore, it is logical that ViewSonic has decided to fully pass on the tablet with Adobe technology 600 MHz processor. Although the producers call absurd, it ViewPad 7's significant weakness - the user used for tablet Google OS has support for Flash.

Problem somewhat larger than the processor is a small amount of built-in memory.TheViewPad 7 only have 512 MB of memory, which need to be expanded with Micro SD card for every job seriously. This is especially clear if the rear-facing camera is often used. This camera has a 3.2-megapixel resolution, which is not much, but 512 MB of memory runs out rather quickly.

As far as the quality of rear-facing camera left, it was below average. Photos are not sharp enough, they have a realistic color with cool tones and regulations. The same goes for front-facing VGA camera, but because it is intended only for video calling, picture quality is not so important. The camera is one element that looks better on paper than in reality when talking about ViewPad 7.

User Interface

ViewSonic tablet is equipped with a completely "pure" Android OS 2.2, without upgrading a specific user interface (only a few details have been polished). This is clearly seen in such "naked" OS that Google representatives say this is not the tablet version of Android-compatible.

Without a drastic upgrade from the user interface, which Samsung has offered the company Galaxy Tab, for example, Android OS 2.2 seems to be impractical at times.Desktop icons are too small or too close to the edge of the screen, while the expansion of the animation of the icon palette along all seven-inch screen rather not have to.

Bad thing is that ViewPad 7 should be used in the landscape position almost every time. With the exception of a web browser and a few other applications that can be used with the tablet in portrait position, even the initial screen aimed at the landscape scheme. This is an unusual shortage, if it is considered that the portrait position are often the only position where the home screen to work on Android smartphone.

Tablet dimensions are such that the most convenient way to use it with only one hand, but then again, it would be natural to hold in portrait position, which is something to be remembered as a serious deficiency.

On the other hand, on-screen keyboard a bit better. The letters large enough for users to not make a typing error during their first use of the keyboard. In response to a good touch screen, keyboard turned out to be one element of a better user interface offered.

Connectivity

communication options ViewPad 7 is why some users will find this tablet is very useful, although many of its shortcomings. Fully functional 3G support, Wi-Fi (b / g) and Bluetooth is a guarantee that internet access possible with these tablets at a given time and from any location.

Making a call seems a bit silly, holding the tablet near the ear. It's better to use a speakerphone, a headset (which comes with the device or some other person), or via Bluetooth. All of this behavior is very reliable and offers good sound quality, for both sides of the channel. As a very large smartphone, tablet functionality is quite good.

Even the GPS quality is decent, despite the fact that all other uses-antenna technology, it is the largest energy consumer. When GPS is turned off and 3G or Wi-Fi antennas are involved, which ViewPad 7 can function for up to 4 to 6 hours without recharging the battery, which is the announced capacity. But, unfortunately that the battery can not easily change, given its potential might be reduced in time.

CONCLUSION

In theory, ViewPad 7 is very modern and powerful tablet that has a lot to offer, irrespective of mobile network operators. In practice, it has many shortcomings as a positive, that is why people should be careful when buying. Tablet Specifications easily be misleading to potential customers, given that they did not say anything about the poor screen imaging, the user interface is not adequate, the lack of support for Flash and similar details which can be important for everyday use for many people.

On the other hand, this is a tablet that is very solid and powerful that allows convenient phone calls and data transfers, even if the user is often on the move. Patch for the shortage eventually can be easily found on the Android Market. However, the point is that ViewSonic was a rush by ViewPad 7 and there are many things that need polishing.
